1 of 30 Pictures - Project 6
Introduction
This project involved taking 30 pictures of a specific object of choice. We had to take pictures at different angles. I ended up taking 30-plus pictures. I took a set of 30, and then I realized that I did not want a plethora of objects in my background. I went back outside, and I took another set. I am not sure how many I took this time. I was a little more satisfied with fewer distractions in my background.
4th Street Filling Station
The object that I chose to photograph is one of my favorite
hats. It is a snapback that I purchased on a vacation that my partner and I
took to Cocoa Beach. There is a restaurant called 4th Street Filling
Station. They offer various vegetarian and vegan options along with dishes with
meat. It is a great little spot if you like local beers and ciders. The setting
is laid back. The restaurant is open, and they have a little patio outback that
is fully shaded with trees. The reason it is named 4th Street
Filling Station is because it used to be a little gas station that also worked
on vehicles. It is a pretty cool joint to check out if you are ever in Cocoa
Beach, FL.
The Process
I was a bit unsure of how to approach editing this picture.
I know a lot more could have probably been done to it, but I am still learning.
I created 3 masks for this photo, and then I cropped the
photo to bring the hat forward. I thought that this would make it stand out
more. The first mask was for the subject which was the hat. I add +23 of
texture, +23 of dehaze, and +76 of sharpness. All of these features made my hat
pop, and that is what I was going for.
The second mask I created so that I could use the brush tool
to apply the same settings as the hat to a smaller portion of the hat that kind
of blended in with the background.
The third mask was for the background. I ended up decreasing
the clarity all the way down to -100 to help blur the background.
After completing the mask for the background, I added a
slight vignette to finish it up. This brought more attention to the hat as
well.

Conclusion
In my previous post, I stated that this is the beginning of
my photography journey. I have not dabbled much with taking and editing
pictures. Lightroom Classic is very new to me. This is only my second project using
Lightroom. I have learned a lot, so far, but I know that I still have a long way
to go. I look forward to seeing where this journey takes me.
