We're Getting Hitched - Creative Exercise 16

Introduction

    Everyone would think that getting married is a pleasant experience. I mean, you are totally head-over-hills for this person, and lets face it, you have been waiting your entire life for this moment. Or, have you?

    Marriage actually has nothing to do with the creative exercise I have chosen, but the title would lead you to believe that it is!

WE’RE GETTING HITCHED!


    We’re Getting Hitched! is the creative exercise I have chosen out of the infamous book CAFFEINE FOR THE CREATIVE MIND 250 EXERCISES TO WAKE UP YOUR BRAIN written by Stefan Mumaw and Wendy Lee Oldfield.

    This exercise is about an actual HITCH. You know, the hitch on the back of a truck or an SUV. It hauls things, a large amount of things, or heavy things from one place to another, usually trailers.

    Today the Hitch does not haul normal objects. Today I am instructed to come up with 10 other things that could be hauled by a hitch. These things are not to be traditional but odd.

The 10 Things for We’re Getting Hitched:

Harness to Haul my mother-n-law or any other unwanted family member or friend

A rope to pull a tube or mattress in the mud or whatever else you would like to pull

Lawn mower attachment to use your truck to mow large areas

Harness used to pull humans in the air with the when like going parasailing

Pull a protective shield for your car when there is bad weather

Attachment for a portable grill

Attachment for portable speakers and stands

Attachment for solar panels to help power a car or electronics

Attachment for a big spotlight

Net for a leaf catcher

Attachment for a portable toilet

Conclusion

    Lets just say that maybe the things for We’re Getting Hitched may be helpful in the event that a certain family member or friend is being a pest on your big day! So, maybe it can relate to marriage after all. This was a tricky exercise. It was hard to come up with ideas. The normal object that I am used to seeing on a hitch is a trailer. That is what I know a hitch to be used for! After I completed my list, some of these were handy ideas. My favorite idea was an attachment for a solar panel to help charge the car or other electronics. Electrical cars are slowly making their way into society, and who doesn’t need a charger for one thing or another.  This was another great exercise for coming up with ideas.

Nigerian Street Buka's Logo - Project 25 Final

     Nigerian clothing and street restaurant signs are filled with vibrant and bold colors. Each region's colors vary, but many wear colorful attire at some point.      To begin my logo process, I came up with the name Nigerian Street Buka. I wanted Nigerian and street in the name so that people knew what kind of food it was, but I also wanted it to be unique so I named it Nigerian Street Buka. Buka refers to small local shops in Nigeria, and that is what my restaurant represents. I also knew that I wanted to represent music and food.      Then, I sketched 30 thumbnails, and from the 30 that I sketched, I chose 3 thumbnails. I then created 3 roughs from these thumbnails, adding more detail. I again chose 1 rough for my final design.      I uploaded a photo of my rough to Adobe Illustrator, and I began drawing everything out with the pen tool. Nigerian Street Buka's Brand Identity - Project 26

     Now that a Logo had been established for Nigerian Street Buka , it was time to create a Brand Identity. For this part of the assignment, we were supposed to create a Business Card , Letterhead , Envelope , and a Website Mock-up (For a cell phone screen.) for our restaurant.      I began this project by researching various brand identities and business cards. I wanted to get a feel for what was out there in the world of the restaurant industry. Anyone can come up with a generic design for their brand identity, but if you want your brand identity to speak to your customers visually and emotionally, there needs to be a great portion of brainstorming and planning: colors, shapes, typography, and more need to be taken into careful consideration.      After completing my research, I drew my artboards out for each project piece and began contemplating a few designs. XXL Magazine - Project 3

  Introduction      This is my favorite project so far. We had to create the October 2023 edition for a popular magazine. The magazine that I chose was XXL . XXL is a rap/hip-hop magazine that presents stories relating to these genres of music. It also offers little take-aways such as: how hip-hop has evolved, how to develop your musical career, personal/career related information about major/underground artists and record labels, and up-and-coming trends and artists, etc. I chose to put the new artist Ez Mil (Ezekiel Miller) on my October 2023 rd edition of XXL. He is a Filipino rapper, but he can sing, dance, beat box, rap, produce, and write songs. He can also rap in multiple languages. There is more. He not only raps, but he is a scream vocalist for death metal bands, as well. He just signed with Shady Records, and he has never been on the cover of this magazine.
