Everyday Monster - Creative Exercise 37

Introduction

Mary Shelley wrote a book in 1818 about a scientist who created a monster using various parts of the human body from several deceased people. Then the scientist added a bit of lightning to bring that monster to life. This monster was the infamous Frankenstein, and I bet you didn’t know that Mary Shelley wrote this book after having a dream the night that she and some friends made a bet about who could write the best horror story. Surprise, surprise, Mary Shelley was the winner.

The creative exercise that I have chosen this week is "Everyday Monster " an exercise from the book “CREATIVE BOOT CAMP-GENERATE IDEAS IN GREATER QUANTITY & QUALITY IN 30 DAYS”, and it is written by Stefan Mumaw.

“Everyday Monster” asks that the viewer “create their own monster from whatever is in our reach right now.” We must construct the best monster that we can from these items and only these items. That is the only restriction. When we have successfully created our made-up, crazy, scary monster, we are to display it as our mascot for the week. Mumaw states, “Let it remind you that your every day can produce wonders if you’ll see the opportunities.”

“Everyday Monster List”:

Headphones are going to be my monster’s face. They will be turn sideways and one ear muff will be the face and the other will be a part of the back of the head.

Sour gummy worms are going to be the monster's hair, eyes, and mouth.

The body is going to be an 8-pound dumbbell.

The arms are going to be scissors and a grill lighter.

The legs are going to be two different microphones one for recording and one for shows.

The feet/shoes are going to be two charger adapters that plug into the wall.

Conclusion

I must say the combination of objects I have chosen from my surroundings fits who I am as a person. This would be an interesting story with all of these objects put together and given some cool new looks as for as paint, graphics, and whatever else I needed to give this monster a scary and crazy look. I have so many more objects around me to choose from. I could have made my monster huge, but a little, crazy, scary, one would be somewhat comical in itself, so I chose a smaller monster. There is no limit on creativity unless of course someone adds restrictions, therefore let your mind wander and see where it goes. Pay attention to everything that happens in life, including the small details.
